We are looking for a qualified accounting professional to manage a group of colleagues within the wider Scheme Accounting Team of Scheme Accountants in providing pension scheme accounting services

Job Description:

What you will do:

  • Manage and lead a group of Scheme Accountants or Accounting Assistants in delivering a full range of Scheme Accounting services.
  • Act as first line quality assurance on work carried out by Scheme Accountants and Accounting Assistants.
  • Act as authoriser for financial transactions and payments ensuring they are properly controlled, promptly actioned and accurately accounted for in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Oversee a group of colleagues in regard to performance management, objective setting, work management and personal development.
  • Ensure both client and internal requirements are consistently met and deadlines are adhered to.
  • Be actively involved with the Scheme Accounting Process and Resource Manager in resource planning including the enhancement and development of resource planning tools and management.
  • Work directly with Scheme Accounting Client Managers in serving client needs as required.
  • Deputise for the Scheme Accounting Process and Resource Manager or Scheme Accounting Client Manager when applicable.
  • Liaise with clients, external and internal auditors and other professional advisers where required.
  • Comply with pensions and FCA regulations when making arrangements, or referrals with a view to conducting transactions in investments.
  • Regularly review the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and controls and make suggestions to continually enhance service delivery, improve processes and reduce potential complaints and business risks.
  • Ensure that company procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Adhere to the ISO and Investors in People Standards, Quality Management System and comply with pensions and FCA regulations and initiatives, for example, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF).
  • Identify and report risks and breaches immediately to your line manager and /or the Operational Risk & Compliance Department, and promote an environment which encourages all staff to do the same.
  • Any other reasonable duty requested by persons to whom one is responsible to.
  • To be an overseer for the Professional Standards Scheme for Scheme Finance

What we are looking for

  • Accounting Knowledge – knowledge of accounting systems and working within an accounting team
  • To hold a professional accounting qualification
