University of Strathclyde International Study Centre.JOB OVERVIEWThis is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Strathclyde International Study Centre as a full-time Business and Economics Tutor. With an increased offering of Pre-master’s programmes and ongoing programme developments, the ISC Strathclyde are looking to expand their business team with a full-time Business and Economics tutor. You will work with colleagues across the Centre and on occasion across the Network to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our teaching, learning and assessment strategy and aims for an outstanding student experience.As a tutor, you will contribute to the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials, and new product development across a range of Business, Maths for Business, Economics and Econometrics modules at pre-master’s level. You will also deliver pre-masters research methods and project supervision on a number of pre-master’s programmes. You will also be expected at times to teach on the undergraduate programmes at level SCQF 7 and 8.Responsibilities include contributing directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre, as well as a commitment to CPD and keeping up-to-date with VLE technology.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Head of Curriculum/Subject Lead you will be responsible for the design, delivery and development of modules in the Business, Maths for Business, Economics and Econometrics area for Pre-Master’s level teaching, with some UG.Student learning experienceContribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by International Study Centre at the University of Strathclyde Prepare and deliver teaching on Blended Delivery programmes including synchronous and asynchronous input for pre-recorded lectures, weekly tasks, live input, seminars, and tutorial sessions, drop-ins up to a maximum of 25 contact hours per week (based on standard delivery model).Write and prepare module examinations, marking rubrics and other forms of formative and summative assessment.Mark students’ formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including during one to one tutorials/ LCs and through regular student reports (usually RPAGs)Writing additional reports for sponsored students if and when requiredDevelop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions,Develop and maintain module VLE pages for Blended Delivery, Online Delivery (PMP) and if necessary Standard DeliveryWork with the Centre’s administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation and registration programmes.Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate ongoing welfare and progression support.Track students’ academic journey, and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support ongoing learning.Act as a Personal Tutor/ Learning Development tutor/ Skills for Success tutor for one or more groups of students if requiredTake part in bi-termly Learning conversations with students offering progression and engagement guidance and supportFollow centre protocol and liaise with colleagues and line manager according to the procedure in particular regarding compliance processes such as class timetabling, attendance and engagement monitoringQuality and standards assurance and enhancementImplement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session-level, and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ attendance and performance.Attend and contribute to standardisation, moderation and other quality assurance meetings.Academic management and personal developmentParticipate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programme and student life cycle.Participate in the Centre and University governance structure, including attending all compulsory meetings.Maintain and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and other activities.Participate in regular training and development activities, and maintain a log of these activities.Carry out any other duty as required from time to time by the Academic Management team and/or Head of Centre.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSA Bachelor’s degree in a Business related subject area plus a minimum of a Master’s degree in a related subject area.Further expertise and experience of teaching Econometrics and Economics for master’s level Relevant Teaching Qualification (or be in the process of achieving this)Fluent spoken and written English.Experience of teaching business, maths for business, economics and econometrics modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, and a teaching qualification and experience of working with international students at PG level with some UGAbility to develop and update teaching material and preferably experience of working within a Virtual Learning Environment and Blended Delivery programmesORGANISATIONAL COMPLIANCEStudy Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students, and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same dedication.
