Here, you will have freedom to grow in a world of opportunity.AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer or Associate Director (dependant on experience) to join our Power Systems Engineering team in the UK and Ireland Transmission and Distribution department.You can be based in any of our locations in the UK and Ireland which includes Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Croydon, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, and St Albans.We will consider hybrid-working arrangements.The primary objective of this role is to lead the development and delivery of HVDC and FACTS activities.You’ll be expected to provide technical expertise into bids and proposals and to represent the company in client meetings as appropriate.Typical HVDC and FACTS activities include:Feasibility StudiesOptioneering StudiesSpecification preparationTechnical Bid ReviewDesign AssuranceDesign ReviewSite and FAT visitsOEM Support ServicesSite pre commissioning and commissioning oversight supervisionDue DiligenceTechnical expert servicesSome original design may also be involved.You will lead and develop the HVDC and FACTS team and will have line management responsibility for those staff.Minimum RequirementsRelevant experienceDemonstrate a significant knowledge of HVDC technology along with a grounding in general power systems engineeringCoordinate across project disciplines, external subcontractors and remote offices such that technical risks are identified and mitigated, and all statutory and regulatory requirements are metStrong written and verbal communication skills; experienced in creating and presenting technical reports; and responding to clients’ technical questionsAbility to understand and communicate customer requirements, lead technical discussions with customers and develop client relationshipsUnderstanding of Systems Engineering principles and requirements managementUnderstanding of functional characteristics of power systems and interactions between AC and HVDC systemsAble to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solutionPrepared take part in working groups such as CIGRE, IET and other professional bodiesBe able to demonstrate an understanding of HVDC scheme design and system studiesPreferred QualificationsProfessionally qualified in Electrical Engineering (CEng or working towards)Your benefits will include: Helping our employees achieve a healthy work-life balance is important to us.
