Job description

As our I&C Lead Engineer you will be responsible for the coordination of all activities around I&C specification for one of the system design teams, ultimately ensuring the delivery of design documentation and work packages in time and quality.

This role is based in the UK (Aztec West, Bristol) with some potential trips to Paris (maximum twice per year).

Profile

Within this role main responsibilities will include:

Support group leader to ensure SC I&C activities are performed in time and with required quality:
  • Organize and prioritize day to day activities of I&C engineers in the team;
  • Support in workload planning for I&C activities;
  • Ensure work in the team is executed in line with applicable engineering guidance;


  • Provide Kick off meeting, pre-job briefs and post-job debriefs;
  • Ensure people are sufficiently trained regarding engineering guidelines;
  • Organize trainings on EDF internal tools for I&C logic and human machine interface specification as well as testing the specified logic against test procedures (Conduite, DFD, ValidDFD);


  • Mentoring of newcomers and less experienced engineers throughout the I&C sequence;
  • Act as single point of contact for I&C activities in front of external stakeholders, especially to the I&C department and counterparts in Edvance France;
  • Participate to weekly meetings with technical leads;
  • Ensure configuration management;
  • Track and report progress of all I&C activities in the team.

Activities conducted by I&C engineers which have to be supervised, organized, and supported, as well as conducted by the I&C Lead Engineer him/herself if required:
  • Responsible for system design and system integration into overall HPC design:


  • Produce, Review and update the system documentation for operator instructions, human machine interface, safety and environmental, control logic design, as well as periodic testing in compliance with the engineering rules, methodologies, quality processes, and tools;
  • Particularly for Instrumentation and Control, performing the analysis for defining the I&C Functional Requirements of the system and production of the I&C logic: writing of the Instrumentation and Control Functional Requirements; specification of Detailed Functional Diagram (DFD; I&C logic diagram); writing of the Functional Test Procedure and running respective tests; writing of system design manual part 5 (I&C logic description); specification of human machine interface (alarms sheets, operating images, operating modes);
  • Analysis and verification of input data, requirements, and lessons learnt from other stations;
  • Engage proactively with all stakeholders around the system in Edvance to ensure the delivery of a product meeting the requirements set by all disciplines (layout, civil, hazard, nuclear safety, environment, configuration management, procurement).

Management of modifications related to the system including:
  • Managing requests for modifications to system(s) issued by various external parties by producing specifications and following engineering cycle (I&C and/or mechanical design changes specifications);
  • Analysis and verification of the applicability of these modifications and challenging them as appropriate;
  • Developing technical solutions and presenting them to the client to help resolve technical issues (technico-economic optimisation approach).
