Your new role, what's involved?
  • Technical leadership and guidance to a team in the delivery of large / complex projects including civil, drainage and flood alleviation schemes, ensuring accurate and efficient project delivery for internal and external clients
  • Line management responsibilities, supporting recruitment activities, professional development support to your team, mentoring junior staff in developing their technical skills
  • Help progress our Net Zero aims - through application of carbon assessment tools and providing practical client advice
  • Supporting our Senior Leadership Team in delivering the highest quality of water management projects


YOUR TEAM
  • As part of our multi-disciplinary Water Team, our Flood Risk Engineers offer a comprehensive range of services to transport agencies, local authorities, utilities and developers including site surveys and investigation, stakeholder liaison, design, EIA reporting, planning application and construction management support.
  • Whilst we work as a national Water team the Newcastle team is currently delivering Bridge Scour projects for Network Rail in Cumbria, DCO support for the Aquind Interconnector, Drainage and Rain Garden design for HS2 stations and Erosion Protection to National Power Grid assets. Typically working for the likes of Cumbria, Leeds, Lincolnshire and Stirling Councils as well as Network Rail, Highways Agency, Environment Agency and supporting a number of partners on HS2.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • A Civil Engineering, Geography or Environmental degree with continued professional development and chartered with a recognised institution and with a track record in flood risk/drainage management
  • A passion for understanding and managing flood risk sustainably
  • Previous experience in one of more of the following would be beneficial -but not essential: Flood risk assessment, planning support/ technical and people leadership/engineering design/funding business case development/fluvial geomorphology/ project management
  • Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good IT skills are paramount, Experience of flood modelling software and GIS tools would be beneficial but not essential.
