Finance is primarily responsible for accounting and financial reporting under JGAAP, IFRS & USGAAP and also regulatory reporting, financial planning and management reporting, taxation and managing bank-wide SOX Programme to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Finance also proactively support and mentor Finance departments of other EMEA units in areas of Accounting, Taxation and Internal controls.


To be an active member of the Accounting Policy small team supporting both Bank and Securities businesses and provide technical accounting advice and quidance across EMEA & International Business units by reference to relevant accounting standards and policies.


In this role, you will work within a team responsible for accounting policy across MUFG's banking arm and securities business. You will provide accounting advisory services to internal clients and stakeholders and act on behalf of both the bank and the securities business.

In your role you will:
  • Become an active member of a small team of technical accountants providing guidance and advice on technical accounting matters to both front and back office functions
  • Partnering with front office to advise on the accounting implications of their business and actively ensuring that they are aware of all forthcoming accounting changes and their impacts
  • Contribute to projects which incorporate accounting topics
  • Support the new transactions assessment process, liaising with front office functions to support structuring activities and advising on the impact of new transactions on the company's accounts
  • Contribute to, and provide, training on technical accounting matters across the firm
  • Actively engage with external auditors on all policy matters
  • Contribute to the issuing or update of local accounting policies under IFRS, J GAAP and US GAAP
  • Provide accounting guidance on adhoc accounting queries, coordination and support on Accounting Policy projects and financial reporting matters

  • Experience in audit and advisory services in one of BIG 6 audit global firms
  • Experience in applying IFRS / UK / US accounting standards preferably to financial services organisations


Education / Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS essential (knowledge of US GAAP and/or J GAAP useful)
  • Analytical mindset and ablity to provide practical guidance on IFRS application to financial services activities and transaction to advice on accounting treatment and financial reporting imlications
  • String communication skills in liasing with cross-functional stakeholders to understand accounting issues and in communicating both verbally and in writing complex accounting concepts
  • Experience in writing technical accounting papers and documentation

  • A good sense of responsibility in managing work end to end
  • The ability to operate with structure and prioritise work accordingly
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
