Position: Finance Officer 5-Month FTC
Finance Officer, 5-Month FTC, Birmingham, Up to 31,000

Hays are delighted to be working with a complex public sector organisation to recruit for a Finance Officer on a 5-month FTC basis to cover the end of a maternity leave until the end of January 2022. This is an exciting time for this organisation and this role will play a key role delivering Finance and Operations activity, working closely with external teams to support and deliver operations activity across the team.

This role requires outstanding financial skills, budget management/reporting, excellent organisational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

* Processing financial transactions- ensuring invoices have been authorised and creditors paid

* Prepare and post all the monthly journals, including prepayments, accruals and expenditure allocation

* Reconciliations

* Preparation of monthly management accounts

* Budget reporting and monitoring, including annual budgets

* Data analysis

* Advising on long term strategy and business plans

* Asset management

* Debtor management, including reporting and tracking

* Financial year end processes

* Assist the Management Accountant and Finance Business Partner as required

* Management and support of a direct report - monitoring, review and development

* General operations and administrative support- tracking contracts, assisting with travel arrangements, diary management, recruitment, performance review, training (mainly of non-financial members of staff).

In order to be successful in this role you will be:

* AAT qualified or part ACCA/CIMA qualified

* Experience in financial and management accounting processes and methodology (income and expenditure, procurement, invoice payment cycles)

* Experience of creating and monitoring performance against budgets

* Experience in managing P&L/trading accounts

* Experience of using computerised accounting software and an aptitude for system improvements and development

* Highly competent in Excel, including the ability to work with complex data sets, ideally with experience working with v-lookups and pivot tables.

The successful recruit into this role will have strong analytical skills, with outstanding organisational skills and strong attention to detail. They successful candidate will also be able to work independently with little supervision and provide support to both financial and non-financial members of staff.
