This approach blends our unique online pedagogy with the research-led subject expertise of our partner</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Role Summary</strong></p><p>The Student Finance Team sits within the Student Services department, alongside teams focused on the provision of pastoral support relating to student needs and welfare, the student experience, and academic study skills. Members of the Student Finance Team work closely with the Student Support Teams and also the Finance Team in order to provide a high level of student-facing support specifically focused on the financial requirements and expectations of studying online across an expanding portfolio of programmes.</p><p><br></p><p>The Student Finance Manager is responsible for the effective line management of a team of Student Finance Advisers and ensuring the provision of focused support to students and staff around student finance matters and processes, ensuring the provision of a high-quality service and professional advice, guidance and support to positively influence student progression, engagement and retention.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Effective line management, promoting a culture of effective teamwork and a ‘can-do’ approach to meeting the needs of the students and of the organization.</li><li>Oversight and management of the team’s day-to-day performance</li><li>Effective monitoring of the advice, guidance and support being delivered by Student Finance Advisers to ensure this is accurate, in line with expectations and compliant with relevant statutory information and internal policies and procedures</li><li>Support Student Finance Advisers and the wider department with complex student enquiries</li><li>Lead on the development of accessible materials aimed at supporting students regarding student finances.</li><li>Collaborate with the Finance Team to identify and resolve any financial issues impacting course progression and academic success</li><li>Work with the Finance Team and Student Support Managers to identify students ‘at risk’ of falling into increasing debt.</li><li>Assist the Head of Student Services in the recruitment of new team members</li><li>Training and development of team members to ensure knowledge of all operational procedures and developing knowledge of processes</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Person Specification and Key Competencies</strong></p><p><u>Essential Requirements</u></p><ul><li>An Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification</li><li>Experience of supporting students in a UK higher education environment in a finance related role</li><li>Excellent numeracy skills</li><li>Line Management/Supervisory experience</li><li>Evidence of initiative, taking ownership and problem solving</li><li>A professional manner with a high level of personal motivation, resilience, diplomacy and tact, and an ability to handle sensitive information on occasion</li><li>Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills </li><li>Evidence of the ability to manage a high workload to tight deadlines </li><li>Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail  </li><li>A willingness to understand and adapt to new challenges</li><li>Excellent IT skills with a desire to embrace new technology </li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Application Method</strong></p><p>If this sounds like the kind of job you'd enjoy, please apply with your CV.
