Covid Vaccination Healthcare Assistant/Dilution Role

Job Description

As we now move into the 3rd phase of the vaccination programme I am again asking for your help.

We are putting in plans for roll out of the winter flu vaccination programme; children's immunisation and covid programme; and the phase 3 covid booster for the over 50's.

To achieve this we are working in close partnership with the GP networks, community pharmacists, the school immunisation services across Birmingham and Solihull to deliver this.

We anticipate that shift opportunities will be available in GP surgeries, community pharmacies, local schools, 6 hospital hubs, mobile vans. There will be a whole range of shifts available including weekends, Monday to Friday, school hours and anything in between!

If you are working in the schools in a HCA role you will be observing the children pre/post vaccination for any any signs of severe allergic reaction, fainting, feeling faint, nausea, vomiting, or panic attacks and escalating as appropriate to the Lead Nurse on site.

So who are we looking for?

Are you an experienced Healthcare Assistant?

Do you have a background of working in healthcare settings and have experience of working with children and young people?

Are you skilled in managing needle phobia, anxiety, hysteria in children and young people?

We will provide you with full training and support to build your confidence in delivering the dilution role. You will be diluting and drawing up the vaccine from multi-dose vials in readiness for staff to be able to vaccinate our patients.

You could also be working on any of our vaccination sites supporting the Nurse in Charge by looking after the health and wellbeing of the patients during the vaccination programme.

As you can see this is key role for the vaccination team wherever they are based.

At this critical stage of the vaccination programmewe really need your support. If you feel you can help us to deliver this final phase of the vaccination programme for Birmingham and Solihull please do get in touch.
