To help us achieve this, we are seeking an enthusiastic Health & Safety Manager. Your Dive Deep and Bias for Action will be critical to step in and support the EHS function for our Sortation Center (SC).The successful candidate will be an experienced, innovative, hands-on and customer obsessed individual, passionate about Safety and able to drive strategy to build an engaging safe environment, identify, coordinate and drive improvements in Safety whilst engaging Operational and other Support Function stakeholders.Key Tasks & Responsibilities include:You will be coordinating key aspects of output: people management, metrics, productivity targets, and process improvements. The extent of your responsibilities will include:· Contributing to the EHS Team to ensure delivery of Safety performance in line with personal, team and functional goals and objectives, facilitating and/or arranging training programs on critical SC EHS issues.· Leading the implementation of EHS programs within SC Operations.· Leading the SC with key risk assessment activities.· Supporting the business to ensure compliance to local and UK/EU legislation.· Ensuring that EHS systems are kept accurate at all time with completed incident reports and all required supporting documentation, with metrics compiled on key data points to prepare/issue regular and ad hoc reports and metric documents.· Building strategies to create a safety cultural environment and drive injuries to zero with the construction of incident prevention programs, contributing to SC requests to improve on site Safety and positively affect accident trends.· Preparing responses to insurers / solicitors in response to personal injury claims received.· Participating in the EU SC EHS Safety Audit program.· Coordinating and training of new Safety coordinator team members.· Arranging, facilitating and contributing to SC Safety Steering Committee meetings.· Arranging and conducting basic surveys and checks in the SC environment, SC processes, Safety supplies and on employee behaviors.· Any other reasonable request.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS· Completed degree in Health & Safety or qualified to NWQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.· Professional experience in Health & Safety, ideally gained in a logistics environment.· You are a chartered member of an industry body representing the interest of Human Resources, such as IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent.· Experience in leading a group of Health & Safety team members.· Experience communicating with and presenting to senior leadership.· You possess an in-depth understanding of EU & UK Health and Safety legislation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSYou own the below as well? Even better!· You possess experience of Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies.· Qualifications or experience of environmentally conscious initiatives would be advantageous.· Communication and influencing skills: you are also results-oriented and tenacious.· Flexible approach to work, while always managing your own priorities and workload.· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to motivate teams.· You can quickly build credibility, using your influencing skills and strategies to build buy-in for change.· Proven record of propelling significant change through an operation.
