You have a great opportunity to apply for a new role, Lead nurse for Non Medical Prescribing and Medicines Management. The post is based in the clinical pharmacy team with supervision from the Head of Nursing. The pharmacy and professional nursing team are based together and you will work closely with both teams. You will work across all Trust services to develop nursing medicines management practice as well as being the non-medical prescribing lead.
Main duties of the job
This new opportunity will require you to
plan, develop, lead and deliver Trust-wide Medicines Management initiatives and training
plan, develop, lead and deliver Trust-wide safe medicines practice
be responsible for the development and delivery of Non-Medical Prescribing within the Trust and lead on this initiative
plan, carry out and lead audits on standards of Medicines Management and safe medicines practice across the Trust
provide expert nursing advice across the Trust regarding the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of medicines management guidelines and NMP
About us
The Trust pharmacy team is a purely clinical team working across all services. The team is co-located with the professional leadership team working closely together on clinical and professional practice. As a member of the team you will receive regular training, support and supervision and be encouraged to develop in your role. You will be supported to plan and deliver research and quality improvement projects and submit work for publication. You will be clinically supervised by the Head of Nursing whilst being part of the pharmacy team.

Job responsibilities
To provide specialist knowledge and advice to nursing staff and other professionals in relation to Medicines Management
To lead on the promotion of guidance to nursing staff and other professional groups around safer medicines practice
To provide specialist knowledge and advice to Trust staff on Non-Medical Prescribing issues
To collate and provide the Chief Pharmacist with the clinical audit information required to ensure delivery of CQC standar
To participate in the development and delivery of training material on Medicines Management and NMP for use across the Trust
To participate in the induction of specific groups of staff with regards to Medicines Management
Plan, develop, implement and lead the Continuing Professional Development process for all Non-Medical Prescribers
Plan, develop, implement and lead the clinical supervision and peer support process for all Non-Medical Prescrib
Plan, develop, implement and lead the Non-Medical prescribing register and support for services considering NMP including training and support whilst undertaking the qualification
Be a member of the Trusts Drugs and Therapeutics Committee
Provide Senior Nurse input into the development of Patient Group Directions
Provide expert nursing advice across the Trust regarding the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of medicines management guidelines and NMP
Educate and support Service Managers in relation to medicines management guidelines and safer medicines practice
Identify areas of practice that require the development of guidelines or policies in relation to safer medication practice and lead on the development of these guidelines and/or policies
Provide support and links to the Heads of Quality and the networks and care hubs in relation to medicines management guidance and safer medicines practice
MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION
To lead, plan, undertake and deliver audits on the storage of all medication in accordance with the Trusts Medicines Policy
To lead, plan, undertake and deliver audits on Non-Medical Prescribing practice in accordance with the Trusts Non-Medical Prescribing Policy
To lead, plan and undertake relevant relevant research related to medicines management and NMP.
To disseminate the findings of audit
To participate in the development of Trust policies and procedures around Medicines Management
To provide detailed reports to the Chief Pharmacist on all aspects of Medicines Management
To assist the Chief Pharmacist in the management and delivery of any medicines related research projects undertaken by the Trust
To maintain a database of Non-Medical Prescribers
To chair the Trusts Non-Medical Prescribing Steering Group
To be responsible for the distribution of British National Formularies (BNF) to Non-Medical Prescribers
