The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Trust.Therapy ServicesOccupational TherapistBand 6Fixed-Term 37.5 hrs per week for 12 monthsAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join the occupational therapy team at The Walton Centre, the UK’s only stand-alone neurosciences NHS Trust, delivering a range of specialist services to a population of 3.5 million people across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, the Isle of Man and North Wales. It was one of only two specialist trusts in the country to be awarded an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating in 2016.We require a suitably experienced occupational therapist who is able to demonstrate a range of skills to join our acute inpatient team for a fixed term of 12 months to cover maternity leave. Working within a multi-professional team you will gain excellent specialist experience within the field of neurological and neurosurgical inpatients. Your caseload will consist of a variety of patients with planned admissions for conditions such as spinal surgery, brain tumours and reviews of pre-existing neurological conditions, plus emergency admissions for brain haemmorhages, neurological infections and brain and spinal trauma. We would welcome staff who wish to take up the post as part of a secondment, but this would need to be approved with your current line manager before applying for this position.An effective team player, you will have excellent organisational skills with an interest in audit and research and a commitment to continuing professional development.As part of your role, you will provide training and supervision to junior staff and undergraduate/pre-registration students in both a formal and informal capacity, depending upon experience and development wishes of the successful applicant.The Walton Centre therapy service offers excellent development opportunities for ambitious occupational therapists who strive for professional excellence.
