B4RN is upgrading its filing and referencing systems. The role is to carry out the digitisation of corporate paper files and update geographical references to B4RN?s coding. These tasks are estimated to last 4 months. This is a temporary post.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


  • You will scan hard copy files, check for errors and missing documents, and file electronically. You will also review the geographical ID codes on all documents, and where necessary upgrade to B4RN coding.

KEY REQUIREMENTS


  • Good computer literacy skills, including the standard Office programmes.

  • Possess a high level of attention to detail with accuracy.

  • Possess good organisational skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Administration Assistant - Customer Contracts Handler

ROLE

You will receive customer contracts and locate locating missing information and discrepancies in the information given, investigate and correct any errors, and update the appropriate records and complete all necessary filing and logging to ensure systems are up to date.



This is a 4 month temporary post, with the possibility of extension.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



You will adhere to the contract processes and systems, ensuring our record-keeping and data management are company standard and completed within a timely manner. Identify any missing information and discrepancies in the contracts, and resolve any discrepancies before processing these throughout the customer billing cycle, whilst resolving issues as they arise.



You will need to work closely with the Administration, Finance & Customer Connections Managers and maintain and update customer (CRM) records as necessary.



KEY REQUIREMENTS


  • Good computer literacy skills, including the standard Office programmes, as well as database/file inputting.

Administration Assistant - Finance

ROLE

You will assist the Finance Officer in the running of day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks including inputting into Sage.



This is a temporary post for 4 months.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



You will provide administrative support to the Finance department, and enter and code financial transactions appropriately on to Sage. You will assist the Finance Officer in the production of financial information, reports and spreadsheets, including reconciliation work that maybe required. Undertake any other duties as may be required, consistent with the position.

Community Engagement & Development Officer

ROLE



B4RN is a rapidly expanding company providing fibre broadband to isolated communities in the UK. As our Community Engagement and Development Officer your main duty will be to identify and engage with interested local community groups and assess the feasibility of proposed projects in liaison with other departments. You will manage the planning and mapping of routes and associated wayleaves, and also maintain records and update historic routes and information.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


  • Present individual business cases for new proposed projects.

  • Develop and supply network plans based on B4RN systems, methods, and constraints.

  • Carry out public presentations with confidence and accuracy, with the ability to handle a wide range of questions and queries, and meet on site with landowners and volunteers.

  • Administer and document wayleaves and manage materials stores in terms of physical access, stock control and health and safety.

  • Manage our brand awareness in volunteer groups, ensure the correct message is given including posters, banners, websites, and general information material.

KEY REQUIREMENTS


  • Have the ability to engage with volunteers in a rural environment, work independently, be organised, and self-motivated.

  • Committed to improving rural broadband.

  • Experience in the voluntary sector.

  • Good colour vision for map, route, and services identification and interpretation.

  • Must be computer literate and competent with the Microsoft Office Suite and other applications such as Google Earth.

Head of Finance & Administration

ROLE

As our Head of Finance and Administration you will ensure effective strategic and operational financial planning, monitoring and reporting to enhance the decision-making process of B4RN. You will maintain day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of B4RN?s finances including payroll, accounting, financial reporting and financial management and ensure the efficient running of the administration of the B4RN office and its administrative systems.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



Financial:



You and your team will develop and maintain financial systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations. You will provide strategic direction to B4RN?s long term financial planning, create forecasting models & assess financial risk, and work closely with the CEO to ensure finance provides the necessary level of support to the business.



You will present and produce Board reports and financial information as required, oversee the preparation of financial records related to general ledger, payroll, budget, expense, etc. and provide information to the external auditors for the annual audit.



You will review accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective actions, supervise and manage payroll processing and tax filing activities in collaboration with HR, and oversee contracted services and Service Level Agreements.



Administrative:



You will oversee the administrative needs of all departments and ensure that administrative support is available as required, and will develop and maintain administrative systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls. You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of B4RN?s office and administrative systems and liaise with the CEO and the Company Secretary in ensuring the company?s legal responsibilities are met, in particular that all necessary insurance is properly in place.



Other:



You will provide clear leadership, promote and foster a team culture, and will identify and resolve financial and administrative issues, and provide training and guidance to finance and admin teams as needed.



KEY REQUIREMENTS


  • Proven work experience as a Head of Finance, or similar role.

  • An accounting qualification such as CIMA/ACA or ACCA would be very important.

  • Experience crafting financial strategies and managing an accounting team.

  • In-depth understanding of cash flow management, Accounting principles and bookkeeping.

  • Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management.

  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models.

  • Proficiency in accounting software.

  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills.

  • Leadership abilities.

  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.

  • MSc/MBA or relevant certification (e.g. CFA/CPA) is a plus.

Network Build Project Coordinator

ROLE

You will coordinate the overall network build process to include engineering and contractor resources, work scheduling, reporting, and documentation. You will liaise with parish community project leads to engage volunteer resources, gain feedback and provide network build support and management.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



Schedule the day to day engineering and contractor resources to authorised network build projects taking direction from the Head of Network Build.



Liaise with local project leads/champions to organise the network build process and assign contractors and B4RN resources, feedback problems and issues to the relevant B4RN department for action, give encouragement and support to the build groups as appropriate.



Manage the build groups material orders working with the admin department who receive incoming requests for approval and delivery to site. Accounting for installed material against surplus and waste.



Work alongside the accounts team who receive incoming contractor invoices in the vetting, accounting, dealing with route errors and miscalculations before being sent to the Head of Network Build for final approval.



Liaise and work with third party suppliers of network infrastructure i.e. BTOR in the provision of their assets incorporated into B4RN network build projects, liaising with associated teams and planning departments to create solutions and in turn propositions for B4RN network build projects.



KEY REQUIREMENTS


  • Proven ability to work well in teams and across departments

  • Proven ability to manage build groups, material orders and accounting issues.

  • Proven ability to work with third-party suppliers, planning departments and external professionals.

Network Planner

ROLE

You will produce new network plans as required and engage fully in the iterative design process. You will report on the progress of project and route design towards handover to build. You will liaise with the Wayleave Officer in processing wayleave documents in conjunction with network plans and be a first point of planning/mapping contact for local champions and other stakeholders



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



You will support the network planning team, from the expansion of core network to property mapping, guiding design choices to best meet requirements. You will recognise where significant architectural change might be beneficial to the network and decide where it is necessary to elevate such changes to the attention of the COO. You will offer in-house expertise for GIS packages and train the Network Planning Assistants and volunteers in their uses and methods.



You will work alongside the Wayleave Officer in ensuring the wayleave procedure is followed, which includes making sure documentation is accurate as per the network design, and paper trail is completed, and ensuring that such procedure is rigorous and fit for purpose, refining the system where necessary



You will deal with non-standard mapping requests and compile information for submission to official bodies.



KEY REQUIREMENTS

Senior Network Support Engineer

ROLE



B4RN is a rapidly expanding company providing fibre broadband to isolated communities in the UK. You will oversee and engage with the Network Operations team on the development, deployment, and management of all network infrastructure projects and work as a core part of the Network Operations Team to ensure that our networks and associated systems are always available, performant, efficient and secure.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



You will own, design, and implement scalable core network architecture to include solutions such as our EVPN / VXLAN distribution network platform with underlying ISIS IGP / iBGP mesh to ensure high quality network performance and resilience, and handle the day to day relationship with our datacentre partners such as Equinix, Pulsant, and LINX and respond to problems and issues arising to keep these critical network border points operational.



You will update and manage our RIPE database entries to keep our records clean and concise and manage and deploy industry standard DDoS protection on our border network points. This also includes iBGP sessions with Bogon prefix list providers and the associated firewall and policy rules to protect network assets.



You will liaise, establish, and manage border point Peering/IP Transit links to create best possible paths for traffic to reach our customer base and keep a regular eye on security news and apply appropriate equipment firmware and patches to ensure maximum network security. You will also manage network traffic levels and apply appropriate QoS and CoS solutions to ensure clear paths for essential traffic.



You will install core and distribution network devices liaising with the Network Build team for core network physical link installation, testing, and provisioning and diagnose the root cause of network issues using problem-solving skills and work to produce permanent solutions to ensure problems do not recur. You will respond to core network and systems faults alerted by the active monitoring system or as directed, ensuring prompt resolution. This requires 24×7 call-out rota working.



KEY REQUIREMENTS


  • The company?s 24×7 support commitments will require participation in an on-call system that will result in callouts outside of standard working hours.

  • This post requires the ongoing possession of a full UK driving license.

  • Experience with Linux-based operating systems such as OpenBSD, Debian and CentOS.

  • Experience of working with Juniper/Cisco infrastructure to CCNP (or similar) level.

  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools.

  • Prior project management experience/qualifications would be helpful.

  • Able to work on own initiative.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Team worker (in addition to B4RN staff you will be working alongside hundreds of volunteers who assist in the deployment of the network).
