Job Description


An amazing opportunity has arose for a Technical Author - Electronics to join one of Redline's longest-standing clients who specialise in the design and manufacturing of hi-tech complex Scientific Instrumentation Equipment.

Based within R&D, Software Dept - the Technical Author - Electronics will create and maintain customer-facing and internal documentation (for example, documents, manuals, help systems and e-learning) to support our innovative range of scientific products. Additionally, they will help drive initiatives that improve our processes and systems. The Technical Author - Electronics is expected to explore new ways to communicate information effectively and to work with a high degree of autonomy in cross-functional teams. A specific focus area of this role is to improve customer-facing documents used to install and verify instruments in the field, which will involve regular interaction with the Customer Service specialists.

Key responsibilities for the Technical Author - Electronics / Home working include;

-Writing, updating and proof-reading user-facing content within the constraints of defined templates and company writing style
-Coordinating with authors and wider cross-functional team to ensure good information flow
-Generation of video, graphical or photographic material for hardcopy, help and e-learning
-Using translation systems to create and monitor translation jobs
-Supporting the creation of technical content for various internal systems

Key requirements for the Technical Author - Electronics / Home working include;

-Scientific or Engineering context
-Experience with MadCap Flare
-Proficiency with graphics and photographic software, such as Adobe CC
-Some experience with low-level coding, such as HTML/CSS/XML
-Proofreading and editing skills
-Experience of working within an Agile software development environment
